Enter http://mail.yourSite.com in the address bar of your browser, where yourSite.com is the equivalent of the site name you registered with us. Please notice that you are NOT supposed to enter the www in the address bar; instead you will replace them with the word mail.

To FTP files to your server you will need to know two simple things: the URL to the site and the password you have been given by Miami Web Group. Once you have both entered in any FTP program, there will no other obstacles.
As a note, you can use FTP with a vast majority of commercial programs, including WS_FTP, Cute FTP and others. Programs like Macromedia Dreamweaver, UltraDev and FrontPage will also work with the same password. If you have any further questions about FTPing files to your server, please contact us at Webmaster@miamiwebgroup.com.

 Recommended File Types __________________
Technote 00005

Here is a list of the recommended file types for you to use on your website:
Although this may appear basic knowledge, we would like to emphasize that not so many self-made web-builders are fully aware of the advantages of some file types compared to others.

  • HTML documents should carry the extensions .htm, .html, or .shtml.
  • Images should be in the .jpg, .jpeg or .gif formats. Bmp files are highly unrecommended, and Adobe Photoshop or Macromedia Fireworks files should be exported specifically for the web.
  • Shockwave files should carry the .swf extensions.
  • CSS files (Cascading Style Sheets) and XML files (Extensible Markup Language) are highly recommended on web projects, if properly used.
  • HTML documents that connect to a dynamic environment should carry the .asp or .aspx extension, if they were built using .NET technology.
  • Executable files are highly unrecommended and you will need special permission from the server administrator to upload them on the web.
  • If you need to upload files that users might want to download for some purpose, please use the .zip file format. It will increase users speed, and reduce your site quota.
  • PDF files are acceptable.

  • We are currently
    developing two additional
    Tips & Tricks libraries:
    HTML Tips & Tricks
    and
